Scientific name: Neritina sp. (natalensis, ziczac, zebra etc.), Vittina sp. (coromandeliana etc.)
Origin: depending on species
Size male/female: 3.5 cm or 1.4 inch
Water Temperature: 20 - 28 °C or 68 - 82 °F
Water Parameters: pH 6.8 - 8
Breeding: needs brackish water
Behaviour: peacefull
Difficulty: easy
Description:
The colors and patterns are extreme variable. Single species are difficult to distinguish.
These snails are laying big white eggs wich are difficult to remove from the glass or other things in the tank. Breeding in freshwater is not possible.
In their natural habitat living in brackish water but tolerates freshwater. All Neritinas you can get in fish shops are wild caught. One of the best algae eaters.
My experience on this species:
Older snails have various patterns on the new built shell. I think that causes the different water parameters (natural habitat/tank).
Harmless for healthy plants.
Remarks:
Make sure that they cannot leave the tank. Otherwise they can die, because they cannot find the way back. Prefers harder water.
